NaPoWriMo Entry #28: Save Myself Before Dawn

Save Myself Before Dawn

Ding dong
The fear is gone
Now we've got a place to stay, and it's been open for years
The fever won't stop, but I can't find a thing to wear
Down on my luck, but high on you
You roll eyes, you haven't got a clue

Yet I'm sprawled out on the window sill
Drowning my sorrows, but still
Thinking of what the next day may bring
And how I never want to sleep again

Maintaining steady ground
Decreasing insecurities
Safe and sound
Tell myself
Safe and sound

Walk around like you know what you're doing here
